Welcome to my digital portfolio.
My name is Hal, I’m a young artist and designer from Sussex, United Kingdom. I’m currently doing an Art and Design Foundation specialising in Graphic Design,
with a background in Fine Art and an experimental approach to visual commmunication.
My work is purposeful and people focused and I’m always ready to explore new ideas. I love taking risks and pushing myself to improve, drawing energy from music, films, culture, politics and the everyday things that make people curious.
I’m open to all kinds of creative collaborations and always excited to see where new projects take me.
LONELINESS PROJECT
LONELINESS PROJECT
DESCRIPTION
The brief was to create a design solution to combat loneliness within society. I started by conducting some research into what loneliness actually is, who is impacted and how. I then moved into some sketching and development of my ideas, arriving at the idea to create a collective that promotes connection, community and conversation. I designed a logo that could be used across the collectives branding.
I designed posters to be displayed outside community spaces to promote the collective and to signal that it is a hive within the collective. They can be changed to fit certain spaces and events. Variable numbers using hexagonal forms depending on the start time of an event, simultaneously capturing the identity of the collective, as well as the silhouette of the logo in the background. A QR code link to the app where other ‘Hives’ can be found.
Continuing with this honeycomb/ hive design element, I designed an app concept largely inspired by Marissa Korda’s ‘Loneliness Project’. It lists different hives where the user can visit in hexagonal boxes which will be clickable for the user to view more information and a map of where to find it. Additionally, I designed a preferences icon in the top right, continuing with this hive design element to tailor the app to your location, goals and interests.
